![]() Spark! Pro Series - April 15th, 2022 **Edited** Spiceworks OriginalsĪpril 15th is one of those days in history that took a giant toll on humanity. What do you all think is better when connecting switches together within a shor. We are upgrading some of our infrastructure and I'm reading up on cat8 vs fiber. ![]() Hey all, I think I know the answer to this question but I wanted to see what you all thought. One of the USB to serial adapters I picked up at a local store (which had an FTDI chip) had build in Tx/Rx LEDs, which came in handy in my particular situation. ![]() Some of their RS232 modules can actually be put into what they called "bitbang" mode which bypasses the UART and lets you use the adapter as a general purpose 8bit bi-directional bus. They are well documented their website has datasheets, utilities, firmware, sample code, etc. There's an old Vista driver for an adapter that used this chip (had something to do with a GPS) that works reliably on 7, despite it being years older than the current release (which always gives me a "device cannot start" error on 7 圆4).įTDI makes excellent USB-Serial ICs, and their chips are also used in these types of adapters. I've had problems with PL-2302 based adapters (which is probably the chip you're referring to, it's very common).
